KARGIL VIJAY DIWAS RAJAT JAYANTI WOMEN CRICKET FRIENDLIES

Kupwara, July 03 : As part of Kargil Vijay Diwas Rajat Jayanti Mahotsav, Women Cricket Friendly matches are being organised by Indian Army alongwith Aseem Foundation, Pune from 28 Jun 2024 to 06 Jul 2024 at Sopore, Chandigam, Zainakot and Hajin. These matches are receiving overwhelming response across Kashmir. The first match was played between Aseem Eleven and Sopore Thunder Strikers at Subhana Stadium, Sopore. In a keenly contested match Aseem XI emerged victorious in an intense and thrilling match. Second match of the thrilling cricket tournament was held on 01 Jul 2024 at Hajin and third match was held on 03 Jul 2024 at Chandigam sports stadium, Lolab, wherein Aseem Eleven won the toss and elected to bat first, putting Lolab Strikers to field. The Aseem Eleven displayed a formidable performance, setting a challenging target of 135 runs for Lolab Strikers to chase. However, it was the Aseem XI’s exceptional teamwork and strong performance that ultimately led them to victory, as they successfully fought their total to emerge triumphant in a closely contested match. The sporting spirit and support displayed by the spectators is testimony to the rich culture and encouragement to women in sports across Kashmir. This unique endeavour has sent a strong signal of ‘Women Empowerment’ for women cricketers of the UT of Jammu and Kashmir who showcased their talent and standards to all. Players and locals hailed the efforts of the Indian Army and Aseem Foundation, Pune and urged them to organise similar tournaments in future as well, as such tournaments would encourage the local players and help them to compete at National level. The Chief Guest for the event was Commander 8 Sector RR, Brig Kunal Sharma, SM witnessed and motivated cricket teams, fostering their excellence at both local and national levels, thanks to the collaborative support of the Indian Army. The organisers, participating teams & spectators paid their heartfelt tribute to the bravehearts of the Kargil War. The event was attended by Civil dignitaries, Government officials and large number of PRIs, youth, and students and locals from the adjoining areas of Lolab.
