KUPWARA, SEPTEMBER 29: On the instructions of Deputy Commissioner Kupwara, Shrikant Balasaheb Suse, ADC Kupwara, Gulzar Ahmad today chaired a meeting with concerned officers to review the implementation of recent Goods and Services Tax (GST) reforms and ensure that the benefits of reduced tax rates directly reach consumers on the ground.
The ADC emphasized the need for strict enforcement to prevent unjustified pricing and directed the concerned departments to constitute special market-checking teams for inspection of the shop establishments. These teams will monitor different markets in the district to ensure that commodity prices are reduced in proportion to the GST rate cuts recently announced by the Central Government.
The market inspections will be intensified in coming days to verify compliance and take strict action against any violations.
The ADC directed the departments to intensify the IEC campaign of the GST reforms so that the people at large get informed about it and get benefited of the price decrease in the commodities. Officers from Health, Revenue, RDD, Food & Civil Supplies and other concerned attended the meeting.
Later, the ADC chaired a separate meeting of District Level Advisory Committee on safe food and healthy diets to review the measures being implemented in the district.
During the meeting, the ADC reviewed the action taken by departments towards promoting safe food practices, awareness campaigns, and initiatives for ensuring hygienic food in markets, schools, and Anganwadi Centres.
He emphasized the importance of inter-departmental coordination for creating mass awareness regarding food safety standards and adoption of healthy diets at community level.
The ADC directed the Food Safety Department to intensify inspections of food establishments, maintain strict vigil on adulteration, and ensure compliance with quality standards. He further asked the Education and ICDS Departments to sensitize students and children through regular health and nutrition awareness programs.
CEO Kupwara, AC Food Safety, AD Food, besides, officers from Health, Police, Revenue, Municipalities and other concerned attended the meeting.
