Kupwara, 03 September 2026: The Shumali Kashmir Homestay Conclave 2026 was successfully conducted today at Roshan Mustaqbil, Kupwara, bringing together the District Administration, existing homestay owners, aspiring entrepreneurs, representatives of the hotel and hospitality industry, tourism stakeholders and hospitality experts on a common platform to strengthen community-led tourism in North Kashmir.
The Conclave adopted a practical, hands-on approach, moving beyond conventional discussions to provide participants with actionable insights on establishing, managing and promoting successful homestays. Practical sessions were organised on hospitality standards, guest management, room presentation, pricing, branding, digital marketing, online promotion and sustainable tourism practices.A key feature of the Conclave was the sharing of best practices by successful homestay owners and tourism entrepreneurs. Participants shared their entrepreneurial journeys, innovative ideas, challenges faced and solutions adopted, providing aspiring hosts with practical lessons from real-world experience. Representatives from the hotel industry also shared their perspectives on evolving guest expectations, service standards and opportunities for collaboration between homestays and established hospitality enterprises.The District Administration highlighted the importance of strengthening the tourism ecosystem at the grassroots and encouraged local communities to take ownership of emerging tourism opportunities.
