Kupwara, March 2025 : In a decisive action against drug trafficking Kupwara Police has detained a notorious drug peddler under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act after securing formal detention orders from the competent authority.The accused Shahbaz Ahmad Khan son of Abdul Majeed Khan a resident of Kupwara was found to be actively involved in drug peddling, primarily targeting the youth and contributing to the spread of the drug menace in the region. Given his continued involvement in narcotics-related activities, despite repeated warnings and legal actions, stringent measures were taken to curb his illicit trade.Upon obtaining the necessary detention orders, he has been taken into custody and lodged in Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu, ensuring that he is prevented from engaging in further unlawful activities.Kupwara Police remains committed to its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and urges the public to come forward with any information that can help in the fight against this menace.
