Kupwara, 11th Feb: In a continued effort to combat the growing menace of drug abuse, Police Station Sogam, today conducted a Drug Awareness Program in line with the calendar issued by District Police Headquarters, Kupwara. The event was attended by local Imams of Masjids and respected community members, who play a crucial role in shaping public awareness and guiding the youth.
During his speech, Insp Imtiyaz Ahmad SHO PS Sogam stressed on the critical role of the community in curbing this menace and urged the Imams of the mosques to address the harmful effects of drug abuse in their Friday sermons, emphasizing its devastating impact on individuals, families, and society.
Furthermore, respected community members were encouraged to share specific information regarding drug abuse in their localities, ensuring timely intervention and action by law enforcement agencies.
The participants acknowledged the seriousness of the issue and assured their full support and commitment in working alongside the police to curb drug-related activities in the region.
Kupwara Police is committed to eradicating the drug menace and will take strict action against those involved in drug trafficking and peddling.
