Kupwara Police Apprehends two Drug Peddlers, Brown Sugar-Like Substance Recovered

Kupwara, 18-November 2024: In a significant operation Police party from Police Station Trehgam intercepted a vehicle attempting to evade a routine Naka point near Nerampora Bridge, Trehgam.


During checking a suspicious vehicle white Maruti Swift Dzire bearing registration number JK09B-3874, travelling from Nerampora towards Trehgam, was signalled to stop however the vehicle attempted to flee upon noticing the checkpoint but was skillfully intercepted by the police personnel on duty there.


The driver of the vehicle revealed his identity as Javid Ahmad Sheikh while the passenger identified himself as Sajad Ahmad both residents of Gulgam.


Upon search of the vehicle approximately 99 grams of a brown sugar-like substance were recovered. Preliminary investigation revealed that the apprehended individuals were actively engaged in the illegal sale of narcotics within the local area, specifically targeting the youth.


The recovered substance was seized on the spot, and a case has been registered under FIR No. 84/24 at Police Station Trehgam under Section 8/21 of the NDPS Act.


Investigation is underway and further arrests are anticipated as part of a broader effort to dismantle the narcotics network in the region.
