Kupwara : Residents of Marble Colony Batergam in North Kashmir’s Kupwara district staged a silent protest against the Jal Shakti Department, alleging the department’s failure to provide water supply services despite an agreement signed in 2023. The residents expressed their frustration, claiming that despite paying the full amount of the agreement charges, they are still without a reliable water supply.
Gh Nabi Dar, a resident of Marble Colony Batergam, stated that, “We were promised regular water supply services by the Jal Shakti Department last year. Even after fulfilling all our financial obligations, we are still deprived of this basic necessity. It’s an unacceptable situation that needs immediate attention.”
Another resident, Mohd Yousuf Khan, added: “It’s been over a year since we signed the agreement and paid the required charges. Yet, the Jal Shakti Department has failed to deliver on their promise. We are left with no choice but to protest and demand our rights.”
The residents appeal to kupwara administration to resolve the issue and ensure a consistent water supply to the area. The Jal Shakti Department has not yet responded to the allegations.
