Kamraj Forest Division Kupwara Organizes Plantation Drive and Trekking Event Under SVEEP Initiative

Kupwara : The Kamraj Forest Division Kupwara J&K Forest Department spearheaded an inspiring environmental initiative today, combining a plantation drive and a trekking event under the Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation (SVEEP) initiative. The event saw enthusiastic involvement from 50 girls from the Government Degree College for Women, Kupwara.

The Deputy Commissioner (DC) of Kupwara, Ayushi Sudan IAS, flagged off the trekking event and actively participated in the plantation drive, planting maple saplings alongside the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) of Kupwara and the Dy. Chief Education Officer ,locals and students . This initiative aims to foster environmental conservation and enhance electoral awareness among the youth.

Speaking to the media, DC Kupwara lauded the efforts of the Kamraj Forest Division Kupwara’s initiatives and activities, by engaging the youth in such meaningful activities not only fosters environmental stewardship, but also enhances their civic awareness,” she stated.

The event underscores the district’s commitment to environmental sustainability and youth engagement, setting a positive example for community involvement in ecological preservation.

Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Ayushi Sudan IAS also appealed to first-time voters to exercise their right to vote on May 20, 2024.

DFO Kamraj Anurag Arya, IFS, emphasized that youth should take responsibility for protecting forests and preventing any damage. He further added that the Forest Department will organize more eco-friendly activities in collaboration with the District Administration Kupwara in the future.
