Handwara : March 24, 2025: In a determined effort to curb drug trafficking, Handwara Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered a contraband substance from his possession.
During routine patrolling on GMC Handwara Road, a team from Police Station Handwara, led by SHO Handwara, intercepted an individual identified as Abdul Wahid Bhat, son of Ab Khaliq Bhat, a resident of Turkpora Zachaldara. Upon searching him, officers recovered 9.14 grams of a brown sugar-like substance.
The accused has been taken into custody, and a case has been registered at Handwara Police Station under relevant legal provisions. An investigation is underway to trace further links in the case.
Police urge citizens to remain vigilant and report any drug-related activities to the nearest police establishment or by dialing 112. Community cooperation is crucial in the fight against drugs, and strict action will be taken against those involved in such crimes.
