Asia’s Largest Tulip Garden in Srinagar Thrown Open to Public; LG Attends Ceremony

1.5 Mn Tulips of 72 Varieties to Be Showcased in Garden This Year

Srinagar, Mar 19 : Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha acted as Chief Guest to the occasion as authorities amid much fanfare threw open the Indira Gandhi Tulip Garden, Asia’s largest, open to the public here on Sunday.

The authorities have been anticipating a large flow of visitors, from within and outside, to visit the Tulip garden and other gardens in its vicinity – to witness the beauty and diverse hues of nature.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, graced the opening ceremony as Chief Guest. Sinha interacted with the Floriculture Department officers and extended his felicitations to them for preparing the garden exquisitely to much joy and glee of the visitors.

It has been learnt that the garden will showcase 1.5 million flowers even as the Floriculture Department has imported four new varieties of flowers to take the toll of total varieties to 72 for the current year. The Department concerned has made elaborate arrangements including drinking water facilities and rain shelters.

The Traffic Police City has also issued an elaborated advisory to the people intending to visit the garden as to avoid road-jamming or any other sort of inconvenience.
