Uri : The Indian Army, under Chinar Corps and Dagger Division, celebrated the 80th Independence Day at Kaman Aman Setu, Uri, with enthusiastic participation of school students, teachers, Numberdars and local villagers from the border areas. The celebrations highlighted the spirit of patriotism, national unity and the strong bond between the Armed Forces and border communities.The programme commenced with wreath laying followed by hoisting of the National Flag, at the Kalapahar War Memorial, Kaman, in remembrance of the brave soldiers who made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the nation.More than 100 students from Golta, Isham, Chakra and Uroosa, accompanied by 20 teachers, Numberdars, Ex Servicemen and local villagers, participated in the celebrations. The students presented vibrant cultural programmes showcasing India’s rich cultural heritage, national unity and deep patriotic spirit, adding colour and fervour to the occasion.A Tiranga Rally to Kaman Aman Setu was also organised, with students marching alongside Indian Army personnel while proudly carrying the National Flag. The rally served as a powerful expression of patriotism and reinforced the message of unity, national pride and collective responsibility towards the nation among the youth and border communities.As part of the celebrations, prizes were distributed to students in recognition of their participation and achievements. Sweets were also distributed among the students and children, further adding to the festive spirit.The participants were subsequently hosted at Kaman Aman Setu, where a group photograph of students, teachers, villagers and Army personnel symbolised the enduring relationship between the Armed Forces and the people residing in the border areas. A documentary was screened at the Kaman Mini Auditorium, providing the students an opportunity to gain greater awareness of India’s journey as an independent nation and the role of the Armed Forces in safeguarding the country’s sovereignty.The programme concluded with a breakfast interaction involving students, teachers and Indian Army personnel, providing an opportunity for informal interaction and strengthening camaraderie and mutual trust between the Army and the local community.The Independence Day celebrations at Kaman Aman Setu thus served as a vibrant expression of patriotism, national integration and community participation, while reaffirming the Indian Army’s enduring commitment to strengthening its connect with the people living in the border areas.The enthusiastic participation of students, teachers, Numberdars and local villagers, together with the spirited cultural performances and Tiranga Rally, reflected the collective pride of the border community in the nation and its unwavering spirit of “Nation First.”
