Karnah, July 21: Following landslides triggered due to heavy rainfall during the intervening night in the Kona-Gabra area of Sub-Division Karnah, the Sub-Divisional Administration Karnah immediately swung into action and initiated restoration measures to clear the affected road stretches and ensure smooth connectivity for the general public.
Machinery was promptly deployed at the affected sites, and restoration works were undertaken on a war footing to clear the debris and remove obstructions at various vulnerable locations along the Kona–Gabra- Chirkunji road.
SDM Karnah visited the affected spots along with officials from PWD (R&B), Jal Shakti, PDD, Revenue and Agriculture Departments and took stock of the situation. During the visit, the team interacted with local residents, who apprised the administration about vulnerable points requiring clearance of accumulated debris to minimise the risk of waterlogging and possible flooding.
The Revenue and Agriculture Department teams also conducted field visits to assess any possible losses/damages caused due to the adverse weather conditions.
The local residents were advised to remain vigilant, avoid unnecessary travel, and refrain from venturing into nallahs/streams during the forecast period of inclement weather.
The Sub-Divisional Administration continues to closely monitor the situation through field functionaries and has kept men and machinery ready for any exigency.
