Karnah, July 10: In order to ensure availability of quality commodities at reasonable rates and safeguard consumer interests, a joint market checking drive was conducted in Karnah by a team headed by the Tehsildar Karnah, comprising I/C Police Station Karnah, TSO Karnah, CHO Tangdhar and other concerned officials.
During the inspection, the team checked the display of approved rate lists, quality and hygiene standards of commodities, accuracy of weights and measures, and compliance with consumer protection norms.
Special focus was laid on vegetables, eateries, restaurants and other food establishments to ensure maintenance of cleanliness, prevention of adulteration and supply of safe and quality products to the public.
The traders and business establishments were sensitized and counselled regarding adherence to prescribed rates, proper display of rate lists, maintenance of quality standards, avoidance of black marketing and strict compliance with legal provisions.
The team impressed upon the traders that the primary objective of the exercise is to create awareness, promote voluntary compliance and ensure a fair and transparent market environment.
The concerned authorities further informed that regular inspections shall continue and any violation of prescribed norms, including overcharging, adulteration, black marketing or compromise with quality standards, shall invite action under relevant laws.
The administration appealed to the traders to cooperate in maintaining ethical business practices and ensuring better services for consumers.
