Kupwara, Nov 07: In an ongoing effort to combat drug trafficking in the region, Kupwara Police apprehended an individual with 57 grams of suspected charas during a checkpoint operation at Redbugh Crossing.
The operation was conducted by a team from Police Post Drugmulla, who had established a checkpoint at Redbugh Crossing. During routine checking, officers intercepted and detained an individual identified as Aijaz Ahmad Gojar, a resident of Keegam Kupwara. Upon conducting a search, the officers discovered 57 grams of a charas-like substance in his possession.
A case under FIR No. 256/2024 has been registered at the police station kupwara under Sections 8 and 20 of the NDPS Act, 1985. An investigation is underway to trace further links and connections to drug trafficking networks in the area.
Endeavour of Kupwara Police has been towards maintaining a drug-free community and will also continue undeterred and stringent measures against individuals involved in drug-related activities.
