Kupwara, August 10: In a continued effort to engage the public and promote sports, the District Police Kupwara organized two important sports events today under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme (CAP)-2024.
The first event marked the conclusion of a Volleyball Tournament held at Police Station ,Sogam. The tournament, which commenced on July 27, saw the participation of 12 teams from across the PS Sogam jurisdiction. The final match was contested between Boys High School Putshahi and Army Goodwill School, Chandigam. In an exciting finish, Boys High School Putshahi emerged as the winners. The closing ceremony was witnessed by Shobhit Saksena-IPS, SSP Kupwara, along with Gh. Mohd Bhat-JKPS, Additional SP Kupwara, Rayees Ahmad,-JKPS, DySP PC Lolab, and Insp. Shafat Ahmad, SHO PS Sogam. Trophies and prizes were distributed among the teams and players in recognition of their outstanding performances.The second event of the day was a special Badminton competition held at the District Police Lines (DPL) for Deaf and Mute girls as part of the Kupwara Police Sports Meet for Specially-Abled Persons. Eight girls participated in this heartfelt competition, showcasing their skills and determination.
The final match was played between Rizwana Bano and Rifat Jan in which Rizwana emerged victorious.
The event was attended by Amin Bhat- JKPS, DySP PC Kupwara, and Syed Mujahid-ul-Haq- JKPS, DySP DAR Kupwara. Trophies, cash prizes, and consolation medallions were distributed among the winners and participants, celebrating their achievements and encouraging them to pursue their talents.
The Kupwara District Police continues its support ti organize such events under the Civic Action Programme to promote community relations, inclusivity, and provide a platform for all individuals, regardless of their abilities, to prove their mettle.
