Kupwara: In a significant initiative aimed at promoting environmental sustainability, Kamraj Forest Division Kupwara in collaboration with the Chak Kegam Army Unit , organized a Tree Plantation Drive and Pledge Ceremony at Upper Primary School, Chak Kegam.
The event, held under the aegis of “Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam,” saw the participation of 70 individuals, including school students, teachers, and officials from the Kamraj Forest Division. The drive underscored the pressing need to nurture nature for a sustainable future, highlighting the critical threats posed by resource exploitation and pollution.
Participants planted trees and took a pledge to adopt eco-friendly practices, such as reducing plastic use, planting a tree each year, avoiding littering in rivers and nalas, and opting for bicycles over cars to reduce carbon emissions. The pledge was administered by Farooq Ahmad Dar, Block Forest Officer of Drugmulla.
The initiative not only expanded awareness about the importance of going green but also inspired students to commit to preserving the environment. The event concluded with a deep sense of fulfillment among the participants, who pledged to adopt a more environmentally conscious lifestyle.
