The J&K Youth Welfare Forum, in collaboration with the Kamraj Forest Division Kupwara, successfully conducted a plantation drive in the Sogam area of Lolab. The initiative was inaugurated by DFO Kamraj Kupwara, Anurag Ariya, and witnessed participation from various stakeholders, including Dr. Aijaz Bhat, President of the J&K Youth Welfare Forum, Range Officer Sogam Aijaz Ahmad, staff members of the Sogam range, civil society members, school children, and local women.
During the event, nearly 200 plants were planted, marking the beginning of a larger goal to plant a total of 1,000 trees throughout the week. This plantation drive is part of the Kamraj Forest Division’s initiative, “Ek Ped Maa kay nam,” aimed at promoting environmental sustainability.
President Dr. Aijaz Bhat addressed several local issues with the forest team and DFO Kupwara, who assured timely resolutions. Key concerns raised included the need for No Objection Certificates (NOCs) for connectivity options, beautification efforts, and cleanliness within and around the forests. Dr. Bhat also emphasized the importance of engaging youth in various initiatives to prevent them from turning to drug abuse and other social evils. He requested the DFO to initiate tracking programs across Lolab and explore additional options for youth engagement.
DFO Anurag Ariya listened attentively to these concerns and committed to addressing them through the proper channels. He expressed a desire to work collaboratively with the J&K Youth Welfare Forum for the betterment of Lolab and its youth. DFO Ariya praised the efforts of the J&K Youth Welfare Forum for their ongoing work in the region and directed his staff to provide proper support to the Forum whenever needed.
At the conclusion of the event President Dr. Aijaz Bhat commended the entire forest division, particularly DFO Kupwara, Range Officer Sogam, and their dedicated team, for their commitment to the welfare of the people of Lolab.
