Infrastructure Woes in Kupwara: Children’s Park in Ruins Post-Flash Floods

Kupwara: Significant public funds allocated for the development of the children’s park on the Darzipora-Sulkoot road have been wasted as the park lies in ruins following recent flash floods. Established by the Municipal Council Kupwara, the park has suffered extensive damage, and no protective walls have been erected to prevent such devastation.

The park, established within the stream nalah, was damaged due to a flash flood. This raises questions about the Flood Control Department’s effectiveness in protecting the stream.

The infrastructure, including the fountain and lighting system, has been severely damaged, and essential items meant for children’s recreation have been stolen. Despite the substantial investment and the evident need for urgent repairs and protective measures, the authorities in Kupwara have remained unresponsive to the situation.

Residents and visitors express their disappointment over the lack of action from the municipal authorities, calling for immediate intervention to restore and protect the park. The continued neglect raises concerns about the efficient use of public funds and the prioritization of community infrastructure in Kupwara.
