Srinagar: The Food & Drugs Administration (FDA), Jammu & Kashmir, has prohibited the sale of an unsafe batch of Snack Dressing (Sauce) marketed under the brand “Nirmal Fruits Products” throughout the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and has ordered its immediate withdrawal and recall from the market in the interest of public health. The action has been taken under Section 30(2)(a) read with Section 18(1)(f) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, after the product was declared Unsafe and Misbranded by the National Food Laboratory (NFL), Ghaziabad.The affected product bears the following particulars, Product: Snack Dressing (Sauce), Brand: Nirmal Fruits Products, Batch No.: 02, Manufacturing Date: 02.05.2026, Expiry Date: 01.05.2027, Pack Size: One Litre, Manufacturer: M/s Nirmal Fruits Products, Industrial Estate, Akhnoor, JammuThe sample was lifted on 16.05.2026 by the Food Safety Officer, Akhnoor, from the premises of M/s Nirmal Fruits Products, Industrial Estate, Akhnoor, and forwarded to the National Food Laboratory, Ghaziabad, on 19.05.2026 for analysis. The Food Analyst, NFL, Ghaziabad, vide Analysis Report No. JK-270/June/26 dated 15.06.2026, declared the sample Unsafe and Misbranded under the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.Consequently, the Designated Officer, Food Safety, Jammu Rural, vide Order No. FSSA/DO/JR/26-27/21-25, dated 16.07.2026, prohibited the sale of the said batch within Jammu District under Section 36(3)(b) read with Section 18(1)(f) of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006. In view of the laboratory findings and to safeguard public health, the Commissioner, Safety J&K, has now extended the prohibition across the entire Union Territory under Section 30(2)(a) of the Act. The prohibition order has also been uploaded on the official website of the Drugs & Food Control Organization, J&K.FDA J&K has advised all Food Business Operators distributors, wholesalers and retailers dealing with the affected batch to immediately cease its sale and distribution, withdraw the available stock from the market, intimate the stock position to the concerned Designated Officer, Food Safety, and initiate its recall without delay. All enforcement officers have been instructed to ensure strict compliance with the order and to initiate appropriate legal action wherever the prohibited product is found available for sale.Members of the public are requested to remain vigilant and report the availability of the prohibited product or any suspected case of unsafe or adulterated food through the Toll-Free Helpline No. 104 or by email at cfsjandk.fnd@jk.gov.in.
