District Police, Kupwara Conducts Awareness Programmes on New Criminal Laws (NCL)

The District Police, Kupwara has organized extensive awareness programmes to educate the public and stakeholders about the provisions of the New Criminal Laws (NCL) — Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam (BSA). The initiative aims to ensure that citizens are well informed about the changes in criminal jurisprudence and their rights and responsibilities under the new legal framework.

As part of this campaign, Police Station Kupwara, Police Station Kralpora, Police Station Sogam, and Police Post Bazar actively conducted awareness drives, public meetings, and interactive sessions. Police officers explained the key features of the new laws, including reforms in investigation procedures, victim-centric approaches, speedy trial mechanisms, and enhanced safeguards for vulnerable sections of society.

The programmes were designed to promote better understanding, transparency, and trust between the police and the public. Informational materials were distributed, and citizens were encouraged to clarify their doubts regarding the new legal provisions.

The Kupwara Police reaffirmed their commitment to continue such awareness drives to reach every section of society, thereby making the transition to the new legal framework smooth and participative.
