KUPWARA, AUGUST 24: District Magistrate Kupwara, Shrikant Suse, today chaired a meeting of the District-Level NCORD (Narco Coordination Centre) Committee to review the anti-drug measures being implemented across the district. The meeting comprehensively assessed inter-departmental coordination in the areas of prevention, enforcement, awareness, and rehabilitation measures. At the outset, a detailed discussion was held regarding enforcement achievements, including FIRs registered under the NDPS Act by the district police (Kupwara & Handwara), attachment of properties belonging to drug peddlers, preventive detention of offenders, removal of encroachments, and destruction of illicit cannabis and poppy cultivation across the district. Srinagar: The Food & Drugs Administration, J&K conducted a special enforcement drive across the Union Territory to check the quality and safety of milk and milk products and ensure compliance with the prescribed food safety standards. During the drive, 198 inspections were conducted and 178 samples of milk and milk products were collected from different districts for testing of prescribed quality and safety parameters. The Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006, the Food Safety and Standards Rules, 2011 and the Food Safety and Standards (Licensing and Registration of Food Businesses) Regulations, 2011 cast a statutory responsibility upon every Food Business Operator to ensure that food offered for sale is safe, properly represented and not misleading to consumers.
