Senior politician seeks from people one chance to elect him to see change on ground
Srinagar, Sep 12: Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party’s candidate contesting on Lolab constituency Abdul Rahim Wani on Thursday tendered his nomination on Lolab assembly segment. The senior leader was on the occasion accompanied by a large number of supporters, party activists and well-wishers, to the Returning Officer’s office at Sogam.The occasion saw the charged supporters raising slogans in favour of the Apni Party’s senior leader. Talking to media on the sidelines of the event, Wani said that he seeks from the people of Lolab one chance to serve them. “I’ve been politics for forty long years during which I served my people with all humility, bereft of any position though,” Wani said, adding, “Even as I have been with my people in thick and thin, the so-called leaders who have joined the fray to seek people’s mandate unfortunately have off and on exploited the locals for their petty interests.” Sharpening his attack, Wani said, “During the recent times, when people required the assistance the political class, both old and new were nowhere to be seen on ground, and now that the assembly polls are about to start, they are come out of their cozy rooms in a bid to befool the people.””I hope the people will give them a resounding message for their time to time deceit and vote in favour of Apni Party’s politics of truth.” Talking about the under-development of Lolab, Wani said that for many decades now, the area has fallen victim to the negligence of those who otherwise got the mandate as ‘representatives’. “Despite the Lolab known for its rich tourism potential even as being the abode of world famous Islamic scholar Maulana Anwar Shah Kashmiri (RA), we still are being left at the backburner, perhaps for the fact that our ‘representatives’ failed to represent us every once they received the mandate,” Wani said. “Our youth is unemployed and depressed, because there are no avenues provided by these power-hungry political class,” Wani, targeting his political opponents, said, adding, “Not only this, but our elders are evenly facing many difficulties.” “The common people who largely are associated with the agricultural sector too are facing difficulties of many sorts,” he said, adding, “All in all we need a transition from these people and it is time to vote and support for the people who feel and talk for the people.”Reiterating his appeal, Wani said that he seeks from the people of Lolab a chance to elect him to see the change on ground.
