FDA, J&K Conducts Special Enforcement Drive to Check Quality and Safety of Milk and Milk products, 198 Inspections conducted and 178 samples collected

Srinagar: The Food & Drugs Administration, J&K conducted a special enforcement drive across the Union Territory to check the quality and safety of milk and milk products and ensure compliance with the prescribed food safety standards.

During the drive, 198 inspections were conducted and 178 samples of milk and milk products were collected from different districts for testing of prescribed quality and safety parameters.

The inspections also covered establishments dealing with milk and milk products, including checks of hygiene and sanitary conditions, handling practices, storage conditions and compliance with food safety requirements.The drive covered Anantnag, Srinagar, Ganderbal, Pulwama, Shopian, Budgam, Kulgam, Kupwara, Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Doda, Kishtwar, Poonch, Rajouri, Ramban, Reasi and Udhampur.The samples collected during the drive have been forwarded to the designated Food Testing Laboratories for analysis.

The analytical results will be examined and further regulatory action, wherever required, shall be taken in accordance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and the regulations made thereunder.

The Food & Drugs Administration, J&K will continue inspection, sampling and surveillance of milk and milk products across the Union Territory to monitor compliance with prescribed food safety standards and ensure that safe and quality milk is made available to consumers.
