Drug De-Addiction and First Aid Awareness Programme Held at Jamia Islamia Institute, Waripora 

Handwara, August 17: Jamia Islamia Institute, Waripora Gonipora, Handwara, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), J&K, Srinagar, organised a Drug De-Addiction and First Aid Awareness Programme today to sensitise students and the community about drug abuse and basic first-aid practices.

The programme was organised with the approval and support of the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of J&K, Shri Manoj Sinha Ji, and was attended by members of the Jamia Islamia Managing Committee, civil society representatives, SHO Handwara and a team of doctors from GMC Handwara.Mr. G. A. Qureshi, Honorary Treasurer, IRCS J&K, highlighted the humanitarian role of the Red Cross and urged students to remain vigilant against substance abuse and contribute towards a healthy and responsible society.

The Managing Committee, under the chairmanship of Mr. Ab Ahad Malik, appreciated the initiative and extended its support.

The SHO Handwara spoke about the social and legal consequences of drug abuse and encouraged students to stay away from drugs and seek timely help.

Doctors from GMC Handwara conducted an informative session on basic first aid, emergency response and the importance of timely medical assistance.

Speaking on the occasion, Principal Jamia Islamia Institute, Er. Basharat Bashir Mir, said that drug abuse is a serious threat to families and society and called for collective efforts by parents, teachers, religious institutions, civil society and government agencies to protect the younger generation.The programme witnessed active participation from students.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Administrator Mr. Naseer Ahmad Peer, who expressed gratitude to IRCS J&K, Mr. G. A. Qureshi, GMC Handwara doctors, SHO Handwara, the Managing Committee, civil society and all participants for making the programme successful.
