Srinagar : The Food Safety Wing of the Drugs & Food Control Organization, J&K, conducted an intensive enforcement and awareness drive across Jammu, Reasi, Udhampur, Katra and Kathua districts to ensure compliance with the provisions of the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006 and to promote safe food practices.
During the drive, 39 inspections of Food Business Establishments (FBEs) were conducted and 22 food samples were lifted for quality analysis, including 07 samples of edible oils, 12 samples of spices, 02 samples of dates and 01 sample of milk cream.
Food Business Operators were sensitized regarding maintenance of hygiene standards, proper storage and temperature control of high-risk food like milk and milk products adherence to Good Hygiene Practices (GHP) and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).Under the RUCO (Repurpose Used Cooking Oil) initiative, 03 hostel establishments were inspected to assess compliance regarding safe handling and disposal of used cooking oil.
