KUPWARA, May 02 :
A comprehensive awareness campaign under the Nasha Mukti J&K Abhiyan was successfully conducted at Parada Village on May 02, 2026, with active participation from students, local residents, youth, veterans, and officials. The initiative aimed to educate the community about the harmful effects of drug abuse and to encourage the adoption of a healthy, drug free lifestyle.
As part of the program, an Art and Painting Competition was organized at Government School Parada, where the top three students were felicitated for their creative contributions highlighting anti drug themes. The outreach efforts also included awareness lectures delivered by two students from Government High School (GHS) Parada, emphasizing the importance of staying away from substance abuse.
The event featured impactful speeches by prominent community members, including Molvi Basharat, Mohd Safi (Engineer), a former BDO, Mrs. Nasida Bano, the Sub Inspector from Police Post Tadd, and the Company Commander, who collectively addressed the gathering on the social and health implications of drug addiction.
A rally was also organized as part of the campaign, with participants enthusiastically raising slogans such as “Say No to Drugs, Yes to Life!” and “Drug-Free Future, Our Commitment!”, reinforcing the collective resolve against drug abuse.
The campaign witnessed a total participation of 211 individuals, including 36 veterans, 74 youth, 4 civil and military officers, local residents, and 85 students from GHS Parada. The event marked a significant step toward community engagement and awareness in the fight against drug abuse in the region.
