Kupwara Forests Promote Sustainable Timber Use and Industrial Greening under SEWA PARV

Kupwara : As part of SEWA PARV–2025, the Forest Division Kupwara, in collaboration with the Forest Development Corporation (FDC), Extraction Division Zangli, JKPCC, and allied agencies, targeted awareness and greening programmes addressing two critical concerns, sustainable timber use and industrial environmental responsibility.

An extensive awareness programme was organized at Timber Depot Zangli for timber dealers, concessionists, and local communities, highlighting the promotion of eco-friendly infrastructure and the adoption of agro-wood as a substitute for conventional timber. The initiative aimed at reducing pressure on natural forests, conserving valuable resources, and encouraging stakeholders to adopt sustainable practices. On the occasion, concessional timber was also distributed among beneficiaries.

In parallel plantation drives were conducted at M/S Geometrics Stone Crusher, Hangipora, and M/S Crescent Stone Crusher, Trehgam. By involving entrepreneurs and industrial players, the initiative underscored the importance of greening, pollution mitigation, and corporate environmental responsibility, setting an example for other sectors to emulate.
Besides a series of plantation drives, cleanliness campaigns, and eco-awareness programmes were conducted across the district. At JNV Patushai, students and staff participated in a plantation drive, while at Govt. High School Chountiwari, Machil, a plantation drive followed by a rally was organized in collaboration with teachers and students.
In Kehmil Forest Division, cleanliness drives were carried out at TeePee and Marsery (Chowkibal area, Ramhal Range) and Mundiyan area of Keran Range, while eco-awareness programmes were held at Govt. High School Ibkote and Govt. High School Bhaderkote in Karnah Range, engaging Forest staff, FPF personnel, and students. Further plantation drives were organized at the Baderkali Forest Block (Rangwar Forest Range, Langate Division) and Gundchubtra Block. Additionally, the Social Forestry Division Kupwara conducted a cleanliness drive, further reinforcing the overall momentum of SEWA PARV activities across the district.
Through these coordinated efforts, the Forest Department Kupwara, along with allied agencies and local communities, continues to spread the spirit of SEWA PARV–2025, inspiring collective action for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable environment while promoting sustainable forestry, eco-friendly practices, and active community participation.
