Kupwara Police Observes Thana Diwas at Kupwara, Kralpora, and Khurhama to Strengthen Police-Public Interface

Kupwara, 26 June 2025:
As part of its ongoing public outreach under the Thana Diwas initiative, Kupwara Police today organized interactive community programmes at Police Station Kupwara, Police Station Kralpora, and Police Post Khurhama. The events aimed to bridge the gap between the police and the public by fostering trust, addressing grievances, and encouraging community participation in crime prevention.

At Police Station Kupwara, the event was chaired by Additional Superintendent of Police Kupwara, Shri Syed Javaid, and witnessed enthusiastic participation from Panchayati Raj Institution (PRI) members, senior citizens, local traders, and youth. Concerns related to traffic management, drug abuse, and civic issues were raised. ASP Kupwara assured the attendees that their grievances would be addressed in coordination with the relevant departments.

At Police Station Kralpora, the programme was presided over by DySP Headquarters Kupwara, Shri Rafee Rather (JKPS), accompanied by the Station House Officer. The interactive session saw active involvement from PRI members, civil society representatives, and local residents. Discussions primarily focused on law and order issues, rising drug abuse, and steps needed to enhance public safety. The officers assured the public of proactive policing and timely redressal of community issues.

Similarly, at Police Post Khurhama, DySP Lolab Shri Javaid Ahmad Lone chaired the programme. The event was also attended by SHO Lalpora and SHO Sogam, who, along with the officer in charge of the post, engaged in meaningful dialogue with residents. Community members highlighted various local concerns, and the officers gave patient hearing, promising appropriate follow-up.

Across all locations, the public was sensitized about the police department’s firm stance against drug trafficking and other anti-social activities. Citizens were urged to maintain vigilance, report unlawful activities, and support the police in maintaining law and order.
