Kupwara, June 21:In a tragic incident on Friday afternoon, a private vehicle skidded off the road and fell into a deep gorge near Tangdhar in North Kashmir’s Karnah sector, resulting in the death of one person and injuries to three others.The mishap occurred between 2:00 and 2:30 PM when a Honda Jazz (registration number CH 01 BS 3356) carrying four individuals three men and one woman veered off the road approximately one kilometre from Karnah Kitchen en route to Tangdhar.
Acting swiftly, Indian Army troops in the vicinity, with assistance from local civilians, launched a rescue operation and extricated the victims from the wreckage.
The injured were immediately shifted to the nearest Army medical post at Baraf.Rafiq Ahmed, one of the occupants, sustained critical injuries and was found unresponsive. Despite concerted efforts by the Army Medical Officer, including CPR, he could not be revived and presumably succumbed to his injuries during transit.
His mortal remains are being shifted to Tangdhar, accompanied by the Tehsildar of Karnah.Three other occupants sustained injuries in the accident. Mohammad Ashraf, who was critically injured, was evacuated by civil ambulance to Kupwara hospital at around 4:00 PM, Parveena Begam, wife of the deceased Rafiq Ahmed, and their son Shahid Turuk were also injured.
They were evacuated in an Army ambulance under the supervision of an Army Medical Officer to Kupwara at 4:10 PM.
