27th Kargil Vijay Diwas Commemorated at Uri with ‘Run for Fun’, Tribute to Martyrs
Uri, July 26: The Indian Army commemorated the 27th Kargil Vijay Diwas at Uri on Sunday by organising a series of events to honour the valour and supreme sacrifice of the soldiers who laid down their lives during the 1999 Kargil War.
As part of the celebrations, a 5-km “Run for Fun” was organised from Twin Bridge to Kaman Post. The event aimed to pay tribute to the brave soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces while inspiring the younger generation with the values of patriotism, courage, discipline, and national service.
Around 150 students from various local schools in Uri participated enthusiastically in the run. Winners were felicitated with prizes, and a documentary on the Kargil War was screened to educate the students about the heroism, sacrifices, and operational excellence of the Indian Army during the conflict.
The programme also promoted physical fitness and further strengthened the bond between the Indian Army and the local community.
As part of the solemn Occasion Brigadier Nithin Kuttappa, Commander, Kalapahar Brigade, laid a wreath at the Uri War Memorial to honour the bravehearts who made the supreme sacrifice during the 1999 Kargil War. The ceremony reaffirmed the nation’s gratitude and respect for its fallen heroes.
