Kupwara Police Conducts District-wide SIM Vendor Verification Drive

Kupwara, September 29: In compliance with directions from district police authorities, Kupwara Police today conducted a comprehensive SIM vendor verification drive across all Police Stations and Police Posts of the district. The initiative was aimed at curbing the misuse of SIM cards for unlawful activities and ensuring strict compliance with verification norms.

During the inspection, police officers thoroughly checked the registers and customer verification records maintained by SIM card vendors. The objective was to ascertain whether any bogus SIM cards had been issued and to reinforce the responsibility of vendors in maintaining proper records of customer identification. Vendors were categorically advised to adhere to the laid-down guidelines while issuing SIM cards.

This preventive measure is a vital part of Kupwara Police’s ongoing efforts to strengthen internal security, prevent anti-social elements from exploiting communication channels, and safeguard the community at large. By ensuring that SIM cards are issued only after proper verification, Kupwara Police seeks to plug potential loopholes that could be misused for criminal or unlawful purposes.
