INDIAN ARMY ORGANISED INAUGURAL MATCH FOR NORTH KASHMIR WOMEN’S T-10 CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP – 2025(SEASON-V) IN KUPWARA

Kupwara 29 Sep 25: In its continued efforts towards women empowerment and fostering the sports culture among the women in North Kashmir, Indian Army’s Kupwara Terriers have organised Inaugural match for North Kashmir Women’s T-10 Cricket Championship 25 (Season-V).

Fourth Edition of this Championship was played in 2024 in which 180 women players had participated. This year the championship gained more popularity among the local girls and a total of 240 players from 16 different teams of North Kashmir are participating.

The inaugural match has been played between Royal Star Lolab and Handwara Titans in which Royal Star Lolab defeated Handwara Titans by 46 runs by in a convincing manner. Maryem Nabi of Royal Star Lolab was declared player of the match award for scoring 44 runs and taking 2 crucial wkts. Second match of the day was played between Kupwara Public School and WCC Kupwara. In this match WCC Kupwara defeated KPS Kupwara by a big margin of 127 runs.The teams comprised of girls between the age group 14 to 25 years.

The players showed exceptional zeal and excitement during the inauguration. The participants thanked Kupwara Terriers for providing girls this opportunity to showcase their talent.

CO Kupwara graced the occasion as Chief guest and tossed up the coin for inaugural match along with other Officers including Principal and other staff from BHSS Hirri Kupwara.

The Commanding Officer applauded the girl participants for their courage and commitment while participating in the championship by keeping social and religious barrier aside. He also assured them for best possible support in future also.

Indian Army is committed to engage, encourage, educate and empower the women of North Kashmir by supporting their endeavours and amidst the ongoing exam tensions and provide them with an opportunity to showcase their talent and make a name for themselves, their community & state.
