Srinagar, September 14: The 2 Rashtriya Rifles (2 RR), Indian Army, inaugurated a cricket tournament at HMT, Srinagar, on Monday, as part of its efforts to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline and community engagement.
The tournament was inaugurated by Lt Col Aditya Chadha in the presence of Army officers, political representatives, local residents and other members of the community.
The initiative aims to encourage local youth to participate in sports and channel their energy towards healthy and constructive activities while fostering values of teamwork, discipline, leadership and mutual respect.
The tournament features teams divided into Pool A and Pool B, with league matches scheduled from September 14 to 16.
The top two teams from each pool will qualify for the semi-finals on September 17, while the final is scheduled to be played on September 18 at 10:00 am.
The event also provides a platform for interaction between the security forces and the local population, with participation from different sections of the community.
Through such initiatives, 2 RR continues to encourage sports participation among local youth and provide opportunities for emerging players to showcase their talent and competitive spirit.
